Balwant Kumar Dass
Note: This blog post series is dedicated to our “Unsung Heroes/Heroines” our non-Muslim Pakistani brothers/sisters, for their valuable contributions to their homeland. We want to pay tribute to all (one by one) our Hindu, Christian, Sikh, Parsi, Baha’i, Buddhist and all other fellow Pakistani brothers/sisters following any faith other than the faith of the majority.
Name: Balwant Kumar Dass (Air Commodore – Pakistan Air Force)
Time period: No information available to the author
Life overview:
Balwant Kumar Dass was born into a Christian family in Gorakhpur, India. He was a senior Air Force officer to fight in 1948 and 1965 wars. Later on he left the Air Force and served as Director General in Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan until he retired.
He still has relatives in India…the children of his brothers.
We do not remember him much and his legacy is presumably lost. Media campaigns should encourage our marginalized Christian community to be part of our mutual national identity.
